I was at last night’s game. Romero’s fastball was blazing and most batters just couldn’t catch up to it. Very impressive to see that at this level. His offspeed stuff was less impressive as he had difficulties with location.  He went deep in the count several times, walked three, and uncorked a wild pitch. He also seemed to run out of gas as the night went on, as he was most dominant  in the first couple of innings and tailed off after that. Of course it was a beastly hot night, but I suspect that the enforced time off affected his conditioning.

His fastball is great, but as Crash Davis said, “In the Show, everyone can hit a fastball.”. Based on what I saw last night, he needs to work on locating his offspeed stuff.
