Been watching Perkins since he was drafted. He was very skinny coming out of high school, listed at 170. So there was some projection in the frame. He was considered a food athlete with good speed, and great defensive ability in center. Apparently the Nationals made him a switch hitter upon drafting him.

I think his lack of bulk/physical development slowed him down his first 2 years. He had something like 15 total extra base hits. But he showed some feel for the zone, which was important. This year he has 16 doubles and 5 bombs in half a season, so it looks like he's coming along.

For my money, he's a top 10 prospect in the system.
