Selected by the Washington Nationals in the second round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of Verrado High School in Buckeye, Arizona... ranked as the Nationals' No. 14 prospect in 2017.

Been watching Perkins since he was drafted. He was very skinny coming out of high school, listed at 170. So there was some projection in the frame. He was considered a food athlete with good speed, and great defensive ability in center. Apparently the Nationals made him a switch hitter upon drafting him.

I think his lack of bulk/physical development slowed him down his first 2 years. He had something like 15 total extra base hits. But he showed some feel for the zone, which was important. This year he has 16 doubles and 5 bombs in half a season, so it looks like he's coming along.

For my money, he's a top 10 prospect in the system.
