I'm thinking that series has a 4 day rain delay at some point.

What's the likelihood of this series happening with the incoming hurricane apocalypse?

Highlights from the first games yesterday as it may relate to the MLB squad:
AAA Reliever Derek Self 2⅓ IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, K, 3-0 IR-S. He's had a pretty nice minor league career. Doesn't K a ton, apparently he's fastball 88-91, cutter 86-88, and a pretty good changeup.
AA Aaron Barrett 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, K
AAA Nuño (W, 1-0) 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 0K

Fedde, Mills, and Barrett combine on a no-hitter for Harrisburg tonight. That team is on a roll, now 7-1

Went to the Hagerstown Suns home opener last night. Suns had a 5 run 1st, and went from there to an 8-2 win over the Asheville Tourists (Rockies). It’s only one game, but a few things I noticed:

They had good at bats, not only hitting, but patience.  At one point with the bases loaded, the Suns 3B (Gilbert Lara) had the patience to draw a bases-loaded walk, instead of trying to be a big hero and swinging for the fences. Kyle Merinconz was impressive with two hard hit doubles.

Relief pitcher Carson Teel looked good, with 5 strike outs over 2.2 innings, with 1 earned run.

The Suns also took advantage of a couple of Asheville mental errors (overthrowing a base, missing the cut off man) with some heads up base running.

Every Thursday game is a Thirsty Thursday, with several brands of 16oz beers going for only $3.   I myself enjoyed a couple Yeunglings at that price. :)  Twelve ounce cans of brands like Bud and a Miller Lite are $2, so Thursdays have some good beer bargains.

Sadly the ballpark itself is still pretty crummy, although it appears that the bathrooms under the grandstand at least got a good power washing in the off season. Food selection is also pretty limited. But prices are cheap, the staff is cheerful, parking is plentiful and free, and it’s a night of baseball.

Not sure what’s worse. That they rank the Nationals #27 or Barves still being number 2 after all the prospects already promoted.

Highly regarded shortstop prospect Luis Garcia went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base.

Andrew Lee tossed two scoreless and hitless frames with two strikeouts. Catcher Jakson Reetz had two hits and an RBI. Nick Raquet also fired two scoreless innings, allowing one hit with three punchouts. This team absolutely needs one of Denaburg, Rutledge, or Romero to hit his potential.  Buying rotations and bullpens doesn't leave you much margin when the big cost guys don't pan out.
