Rochester, Harrisburg, and Wilmington open the season a combined 3-15, all three teams are 1-5.

This tends to happen when you have very little talent.

There's talent in Wilmington, but the other levels are all barren.

Not much.  Better than the others, but still not much.

A few moves today:

Gabe Klobosits promoted to Rochester from Harrisburg, and Aaron Barrett assigned to Harrisburg.

he was rehabbing, guy is basically just hanging on to a minor league career so he can become a coach one day or something. he apparently has a video crew following him for a documentary, though i'm not sure who would fund/watch that.

Tommy Milone is starting for Buffalo against the Redwings tonight. Gave up a leadoff triple to Corban Joseph, the Wings 32 year old 2B. Then Milone threw one into the dirt through the catcher and to the backstop allowing Joseph to score.

Minor league coaching shakeup via Maria Torres at The Athletic:

Sources tell me and @Britt_Ghiroli that the Nationals have fired coaches Tommy Shields (High-A manager), Gary (OF//baserunning coordinator) Thurman, Pat Rice (Low-A pitching) and Brian Rupp (Double-A hitting)

Talk Nats ⚾
@TalkNats
Nats announce their minor league coaching staffs & player development staffs. Some familiar names like Joel Hanrahan as pitching coach in Low-A. Joe Dillon will take on the role of hitting coordinator, Bob Henley as field coordinator, & Randy Knorr as catching coordinator.

anybody else worried about Miguel Cabrera being the Athletic Trainer in the DSL?  "I recommend you drink heavily."  That, and the AAA conditioning coach, Mike Warren. "Play some hoops.  It's good cardio and can get you a job in a TV series."

wait - I thought he was purely a creature of Nats Park?  Wasn't he in the trade that got us Nyjer Morgan? OR did we send him to get Nyjer?

TBF, if that academy turned into a pipeline of fat drunks who win the Triple Crown, I think the fans wouldn't mind.
