The early game and having to listen at work is making me cranky,

That game was pathetic. I'm glad it was an early game so I won't have to watch it tonight.

Anthony DiComo @AnthonyDiComo

One day after Mets officials insisted he is fine physically, the team just placed Zack Wheeler on the DL with biceps tendinitis.

Straily was impressive. Has been all year. Just goes to show it's not impossible to find decent starting pitching out there without a mega million dollar signing.

It might matter more in October than when you're facing a line up without 5 starters in June.    :couch:

Gotta run.    Espinosa's comin' to bat on MLB Network.

The 20+ pounds of muscle added in the off-season in an effort to throw even harder also didn't help in Thor's case. But I imagine that goes along with thinking you're indestructible. I guess it's good to learn that lesson young. I wish I had.

I'm extremely skeptical of his claims of 17lbs of muscle. That's pretty much impossible in that time frame. At least not without help.

I think his injury had more to do with being stubborn and the team not doing their job.

The Dodgers hit 15 home runs in 4 games against the Mets this week, sweeping the series.  To add insult to injury, Blevins walked a Dodgers relief pitcher with the bases loaded.

Atlanta is now in second place in the east, 9 games back.

Unless Atlanta trades for a starter I doubt they can compete. The whole Freddie Freeman to 3b will be interesting though.

If we have to worry about the Braves this year it's time to blow it all up and start over.

Can't they trade Adams for a pitcher?

Sources: Mets open for business now, willing to listen to offers for Granderson, Addison Reed, Bruce, Cabrera, etc. Far behind in races.

Blevins is persona non grata with Rizzo.

2.73 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and  0.7 HR/9 means Rizzo ought to bury that hatchet.

He has 6 IP vs. right handed hitters, and 18.1 vs. left handed hitters. His ERA vs. RHH is 7.50 and his BAA is .310. Blevins is a great LOOGY, but a great LOOGY doesn't solve our problems.

Nobody's said any one reliever will fix the whole pen. That player doesn't exist. A great loogy is, or can be, part of the solution.

How would you rate Perez?  Maybe not great, but pretty darned good.  An upgrade would have to be a very low priority, because you really can't use two roster spots for guys who can only get left handed batters out. So if we acquired Blevins we'd have to unload Perez. We'd have to pay him. And for what? A slight improvement in that role?

I get that. Perez is fine. I'd be more in the Reed camp, but I wouldn't turn down Blevins, either, is all I'm saying.

The Mets really have lots of issues. Remember all the posters here who said we could not compete with the Mets after 2015?
And where is Exposfan? Not quite as much fun to troll on other boards when your team is down. And he was quite the troll.

There are 29 teams who would not start Cabrera at SS, and one that was, up until very recently. A trade ain't solving his 2B problem.

Mets scored a lot last night, but the Asdrubal Cabrera thing seems like the mark of a disintegrating team, although Sandy Alderson talks as if he, personally, can plow through problems and opposing teams just by being tough.
