I don’t believe there is any evidence to say there is an exact amount of time guys should spend in the majors or minors to develop. It’s also silly to cite stats for guys struggling a few games into the season. The definition of small sample size. Same goes for minor league stats this season. Too soon for judgments.
At this point they seem to want to get Garcia at least a couple of months in Rochester. Whether that is for offense or defense or both I don’t know. At this point on time he is still possibly in the Nats future. Escobar definitely is not.
BTW Garcia’s OPS career wise is about the same as Wally Blackman. Blackman had about 13 WAR over his entire career according to baseball reference. Which means about 1 WAR per year. Which means he was not that good.
