I understand that is the goal with a lot of our vet guys right now, but 35 year old Alcides Escobar is not getting back even a bag of baseballs unless he somehow becomes a .300 hitter out of nowhere.
Disagree. If Alcides Escobar slashed something like .278/.320/.374, a 50-point OPS dropoff from last year, and was an above average SS with positional versatility, at the deadline a contender would have happily parted ways with a fringe AA prospect.
Usually we never hear about that prospect again, once every blue moon that prospect is Tanner Roark. At worse it would be a piece who could be flipped down the line in a "Buy" deadline.
But right now, sooner than later they have to bench/cut him and let Fox play or pull up Garcia. This isn't the NBA. Nothing to be gained from losing games
