Angels walked off last night via a strikeout-wild pitch. First time since 2010 that that's happened.

I was at the Nats game when Jhonny Gomes walked off via a HBP with the bases loaded.  That was interesting.

The ending of that was a complete disaster. Espinosa grounded out to start the inning. Revere reached on an error and then advanced to 2B on a wild pitch. Maybin then struck out and Revere moved to 3B on the passed ball and then scored on an errant throw to 1B to try to retire Maybin. :lmao:

Yankees rookie Dustin Fowler injured his knee in the first inning of his debut last night sliding to catch a foul ball. His knee appears to have hit an electrical box. He was carted off the field and had to undergo surgery that evening. Never even got an at bat. He's out for the year at least.

In the video game we're playing, rebuild trades seem a whole lot harder.

That one year I did three deals in two days with the Irish guy, I felt like the White Sox.

Pineda has a torn UCL, devastating injury for the Yankees.

watching a sports show where they are discussing whether the Crawford contract was worse than Sandoval, with a few holding out for Hanley.

He had been killing my fantasy team for a few weeks now... if not for transaction limits I would have replaced him long ago... now it makes sense.

I think I read somewhere that Sandoval has the second-most dead money for a DFA'd player in MLB history.  Pretty hard to argue there's much worse than that.

Trying to find it but stumbled upon this hilarious nugget from ESPN:

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/20040647/boston-red-sox-designate-pablo-sandoval-assignment
Quote
Sandoval is due more money than the combined $47.3 million the team's top nine players, per WAR, combined will make this season: outfielder Mookie Betts ($950,000); pitcher Chris Sale ($12 million); outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. ($3.6 million); closer Craig Kimbrel ($13 million); shortstop Xander Bogaerts ($4.5 million); pitcher Drew Pomeranz ($4.45 million); reliever Joe Kelly ($2.8 million); first baseman Mitch Moreland ($5.5 million); and outfielder Andrew Benintendi ($549,000).
