8th all time in OPS.  Of the 10 players with the most similar offensive stats, 4 are not HoF eligible right now (Pujols and Cabrera are active, Ortiz just retired, and I think Thome is not yet on the ballot), 1 is Gary Sheffield, and 5 the rest are in the HoF (Frank Thomas, Jimmy Foxx, Ted Williams, Ken Griffey, and Mickey Mantle).  But for the PEDs, this guy is a no brainer.  Actually, he was a no brainer, and the PEDs just proved it.

If it weren't for the PEDs, I'd say he'd be a lock

However   ...   he did.      If Pete Rose hadn't bet on baseball, he'd be in.

Piazza is a baseball establishment/writers sweetheart/darling.    They only made him wait to make it look legit.

He admitted to using though? Yeah, Manny actually failed a test, so I don't see it happening, but was more :stir: the pot.

two times. Didn't he have a positive with the Dodgers and miss a playoff, then get suspended again when he finished with the Rays?  I think the view of Verducci and a lot of other voters is that they think positives after the testing protocol was introduced in '04 or '05 are disqualifiers, while ones before that are more the "everyone is doing it so we can't ban them all" violations.

Seriously, Manny may think that, once Bonds and Clemens get in, he has a better shot, so restart the clock (again, I don't know if NPB restarts the clock).

But he will swing hard. And when he connects oh boy! Best eighth hitter in MLB. Or maybe 9th now?

I saw the list and noticed McCovey (I have his rookie card).     Like most on the pardon list, I figured he had a possession with intent to distribute charge.

Yordano Ventura of the Royals has passed away due to a car accident.

Former top prospect Andy Marte also passed away, in a separate wreck.

Wow, big FU to the Twins, who didn't want de Leon for Dozier.
