The Nats are going with the if you have to ask you can't afford it theory on listing beer prices. Note that they list the tax but not the actual cost.

Beyond that, WTF is up with these beers? Who drinks peppercorn beer? Who wants a piney, citrusy, caramel flavor beer? The Fair Winds is probably OK, but do I really care about kettle additions and a double dry hop process? I didn't know that DC Brau has a pilsner, I'll try that one, hopefully heavier on the hops and lighter on the German style.
That peppercorn saison is fantastic, and is probably one of 3 Stars signature beers. It doesn't taste like black pepper but it does have just a little bite to it, so it's super crisp, which is kind of unusual in a saison.
The craft brew industry in DC is booming and people go out of their way for the local stuff, either because some of the local breweries have an almost cult-like following or because people don't like putting money in InBev's pocket. Looks like the Nats are trying to reach out to that market too. If you like craft beer, it really sucks when there's nothing but Bud and Bud Light (cough cough Tradition Field).
Some of those descriptions are a little pretentious but they do tell you what you can expect in the beer, and when you're paying $11 or whatever for a beer you've never heard of before, it's nice to be able to pick one that you have good odds of actually liking. Those two IPA's are really different; my husband would love one and hate the other so those descriptions would help me pick the right one.
