He wants a ring.

Then he should have tweeted Wieters AND Holland > Team Store. Hitting depth at C and 1B is bad which Wieters could help solve. Also, the team totally needs a closer.

Pretty sure that's a far second to his payday

This thread is about fake news.

An anonymous statement of denial from the Nationals is good enough for you? I'd be more convinced by an actual signing.

In any case, the news isn't the Bowden Tweet, it's Harper & Eaton calling out team ownership.

Rizzo's making the boys do the dirty work. LAC is nothing new. Players tweeting stuff like that though. May light a little fire.

Damn, if Harper's going to go in, he needs to go all in and add a #LAC to the tweet.

No, the Learners being cheap is what impacts their ability to sign free agents

Eaton agrees with Bryce. Maybe Werth or Zim would like to chime in?

I'd rather have Werth and Zim chip in.

Call it cheap or call it half assing. It's the same and yeah it is the reason Bryce will have to go somewhere else to win a WS. DC teams are great at making free agent splashes for marketing purposes but then half assing what is actually needed to compete for a championship. Just ask Ted Leonsis, he is the king of this strategy. Players usually sniff this out well, that's why someone like heyward and zobrist didn't come here. If you want to win, you go elsewhere. Just call the wizards, caps and Nats the Washington Half Ass/Cheap network.

Since Danny boy doesn't go as crazy with signings for the Skins maybe he could chip in some $.

He did for years. The only good free agent he signed was the linebacker who retired several years ago. Sanders , Haynesworth Ariata all sucked when they were here.

Yea. I know. But he has toned it down in recent years.

Depends what you consider recent. Is 2012 recent?  The trade for Griffin was possibly the worst trade since Herschel Walker, almost 30 years ago.

That's Snyder's recent genius- Shanny was a real football professional who was going to get the house in order, then Allen was a real football professional who was going to get the house in order, now Scotty is a real football professional who's going to get the house in order. I wonder who the next one will be?

I'm thinking this ties in to the never-ending MASN quagmire. I'm fine with the Nats making clear how much out of pocket stuff they have to do because of the ridiculous and esesntially punitive situation that continues to uniquely affect them.

However, the team can still make the moves suggested and demonstrate that they felt they had to maximize the window but we're still negatively impacted by the O's continued hamstringing and continuing actions and litigation that is against the best interest of baseball. As baseball has a clause related to it, the time factor and the continued negative impact could enable action on Manfred's part if settled action doesn't occur from Birdland, causing the latter to weigh heavily how much further they want to drag this out considering the commissionwr's power under the best interests of baseball clause. Both Manfred and the Lerners can point to multiple seasons of not pushing that in an attempt for a timely solution, but enough is enough.

The Nationals, who still want to add a reliever (Greg Holland?) and bench depth, await ownership approval to spend further, sources said.
