We can pick him up after his third TJ surgery.

Matt Williams joins the Giants broadcasting team.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — It has been 30 years since Matt Williams broke into the big leagues with the Giants, and he has been back many times in recent seasons as an opposing player, coach and manager. When the Giants play their home opener on April 10, Williams will once again be affiliated with them, this time in a new role.

Williams will join NBC Sports Bay Area this season as a studio analyst for the pre- and post-game shows, which are expanding to one hour. After spending most of the last two decades in various on and off-field roles for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Williams is coming full circle with the Giants...

I can't imagine anyone worse for that type of show.

At least Matt Williams won't be messing up their amazing TV team of Miller & Krukow.

  Yeah, it'd be great.

"Matt, what can the Giants do now that Melancon's blown eleven saves in a row?"

"He's the closer, so he closes.  Standard decision."

"But they've dropped seven games in the standings over the past three weeks, almost entirely because of him."

"That's baseball.  They'll get 'em tomorrow."

Chris Marrero is expected to begin the season in a platoon with Jarrett Parker in left field for the Giants.

The non-roster invitee was surely headed to Triple-A Sacramento before Mac Williamson (quad) and Michael Morse (hamstring) got hurt, but Marrero certainly played his way into a spot this spring with a .283/.348/.683 line and seven homers. Marrero, who will be on the short side of a platoon, hit .284/.344/.494 with 23 dingers at Triple-A in the Red Sox organization in 2016 and will be playing in the majors for the first time since 2013.

Happy for Chris. He was the first Nats prospects I really followed after the move.

wow, it seems like it was eons ago when he was our top prospect.  Glad to see he's still hanging around baseball.

Marrero was very good in AAA for the Red Sox the past year or two.  It is good to see him get a chance.

Melancon was a decent closer the past few years. There was no reason to spend close to the type of money on him that Jansen and Chapman got.
