The best solution at this pathetic point is to trade for Brad Brach from the O's. Won't be cheap.

I don't think Rizzo is the one to blame for this offseason. I'd look at the bigger office down the hall.

We don't trade with that team.

So Jeremy Guthrie is the closer?  I like it.

Swoop in Rizzo. Do whatever it takes.
but the yankees got him at their price, which arguably is a bargain.  Why would they trade him?   If he pouts, gives a half effort, then it only validates the low price and robs him of future earnings.

Good time to trade Harper.  What else can we get for him beside Betances?

Why would thd Yanks bother? They can wait two years, get under the luxury tax, and have a fantastic team to surround him and Machdo on 2019

if he hates them them enough he can suck selectively, a grooved pitch in a pennant race or the playoffs wont do much to his over all numbers

Closer watch? The word closer does not seem to exist in Nats town.

He isn't pouting over the price.

I'd get their rookie right fielder Aaron Judge, he's no Bryce Harper but he's under team control for six years and the Nats would save $9 million in salary that they could use for Wieters. Solves the closer issue, catcher issue, and dumps Harper before he implodes.

Can't be patient in NYC. Too much pressure to win.

Should have traded Harper after 2013

They've been patient the last two seasons. Cashman has a plan and ownership has clearly bought off on it. He's not going to punt all his work just trade for Harper when he can sign him in two years.

I'm going to laugh if Harper and Machado both end up in LA

Doubt both of them do. But even so, they'll have a strong team.

Rizzo has had such an awful offseason. I was a big fan of his prior to this season. The Eaton trade was one of the worst trades I have ever seen. We have no closer. Our SP depth got worse...and they haven't locked up Dusty!

What is going on with this team?

Not sure how the Eaton trade makes it a bad offseason. Still have no idea what Giolito and Lopez will become, but frankly, Giolito going from the number 5 prospect to the number 20 leads me to believe he's probably not the ace we were hoping for. Lopez is more than likely a reliever with a ceiling of a good closer. Neither one will be ready for major MLB innings for at least another season, if not two. So our depth is only mildly hampered.

It's also obvious that Rizzo actually tried to get a closer, but is hampered by ownership and the purse strings. That's pretty much killed any chance to get a closer, short of trading for one. And the trade market for closers right now is absurd.

Whoa whoa whoa. Calm down. Common sense isn't allowed in here.

Freaking off and jumping off bridges before the season even starts is the way to go.
