Read this article if you get a chance.

The difference between him and Fowler is marginal. I'd rather have Fowler and two top 10 prospects

I am so excited about Eaton.  He is a really good ball player and under control for a long time.  Disappointed it was this pricey.  Giolito...I just don't fully believe in him and think he has high bust potential.  Dunning...wasn't sure what to make of him.  Lopez had stuff and including him hurt!

But its done so time to look on the bright side!

I don't disagree. I was just using it to show he's not an average player.

I think the price is so high due to the cheap, prime 5 years of control. There must have been other suitors.

Lucas Giolito is trash.

THANK GOD we dumped him before he was worthless.

I think the Nats may have been worried about little Gio. Crazy about the drop in velo and his curve was nowhere near as sharp as it had been in years past. It will be very interesting to watch him from here on out. Lopez is the one I wish wasn't in there.

Eaton is cheaper. Let's see what Rizzo buys with the savings.

Lopez is a closer in two years. Book it.

well, if the worry is the arm, then the ChiSox meds will pick it up.  If the worry is the head, then this is sell high.  If all are healthy, I don't think you see many deals with this many quality arms.

"Guys, we could have just signed Chapman and Fowler AND kept all of our prospects! Why didn't we do that? What, you mean there are other teams those players want to sign with? That's not fair, I did it in The Show."

Giolito may turn into Randy Johnson. A lot of tall pitchers are late bloomers. But he might be another Meyer. I bet if you dig on this board there are mini-freakouts about dealing Meyer.

I feel the same way I felt when I heard about the Gio trade. Very happy (at the time) to get him but shocked at giving up four quality (at the time) prospects.   The four prospects turned out to be trash (and we have two of them back anyway). Rizzo knows what he's doing and I predict this will turn out about the same.  (Except Eaton will be good longer than Gio was.)

Well, that's a bold trade.  I like Eaton, but that's a lot to give up.  With that price, he has to play CF and play it well while hitting a lot.  If this team ends up short on starting pitching any time in the next 3 years, you better hope Eaton's really, really good.

Most importantly, you better hope Strasburg and Ross aren't f'ed.  I'm not sold on that fact for either.  This also almost certainly means Gio Gonzalez is going nowhere.

The problem with the Meyer deal was .... Rizzo gave up on Span way too soon.  In retrospect anyway, we'd be a good deal better off now if we'd kept him/
