be aware that it is traditional with Hamilton tickets to pay with $10 bills.

All this because one of the actors lectured Pence. If it wasn't for that "performance" it's doubtful this show wouldn't have made it out of NY.

The show was the hottest ticket in town long before Pence visited on November 19, 2016

In 2016, Hamilton received a record-setting 16 Tony nominations, winning 11, including Best Musical, and was also the recipient of the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The Chicago run began September 2016. The London run began December 2016 (I assume they didn’t put it together in a week and a half).

Looked it up--the Tony Awards were in June 2016.

Just remember that DCFan wanted Rendon dropped from the lineup a few games ago for not hitting enough.   :hysterical:

For sure, that's why Pence showed up.    Kind of like when he discovered the NFL in 2017.   Probably never been to the theater or the NFL, before or since.

Hamilton was the hottest ticket in town 'before' it was even completed.  The hype started when LMM performed his first song at the WH in 2009, at the time the concept was simply for a 'mix tape' but after the performance he and his writing team realized they had struck gold.  Watch the PBS documentary if you haven't already.  They started filming it as Miranda started developing the rest of the play.

Pence was even later to the party than I thought.

I'm sure there's some sort of meaning to this.    I'll pass.

But to get back in topic, the show last night was fantastic. I can’t imagine how good it would have been with the original cast. The music was great. The story was great. It was funny at times and heartbreaking at times. Just fantastic. And my wife liked it more than I did.

Haven't heard of anyone who has not thoroughly enjoyed this show.  Will catch it someday--who knows when.

Reading the Chernow book (800 or so pages) in prep for the late Aug. tickets. Starting to listen to the cast album. I really want to be prepared.
