I'm charcoal smoking ribs this week for the first time.  The vegans next door bent after the brisket and chickens, but didn't break.  We'll see how strong they are.

Not if you were there. It's worth the price of admission to see that boy slap one.

I'm envious. Never tried smoking with charcoal. Just tell the vegans it tofurkey or something. It will give them cover.

Phil Wood, responding to caller who brought up our boys diving for dogshyte, claimed that hitters have already made up their mind to swing at a pitch...nope...BAD hitters do that....good hitters watch the ball far longer...and when you have to lean over so far that you on the verge of losing your balance, that is strongly suggestive that the incoming pitch is NOT a strike..

Don't look now, but the Mets are just 9 games back of us, 1 behind the Marlins and 2 1/2 out of the wild card. That's too close for comfort...the Mets scare me more than the Marlins.

With just 32 games left to go, we can play .500 ball and get to 91 wins. If we do, the Mets would need to win 25 of their last 32 games to tie us at 91, or win 26 to beat us.

While this does assume we will win 16 more games this year, I think that's a relatively safe bet considering we see the Phillies, Braves and Diamondbacks in the mix there. The Mets likewise have a pretty easy stretch ahead of them but that's a pretty narrow margin there. There's almost no way they finish the season without picking up 7 more losses. All we have to do is get our crap together and play .500 ball, and despite our pitching drama, I think we will do that.

Of course all bets are off in the post season but hopefully the other teams in the Wild Card hunt will do their part and keep the Mets out. Although we do kinda own them this  season so maybe it wouldn't be so bad to see them in postseason play. I just want them out so their fans will stfu.
