For GIO!

So glad for Gio. Now we don't have to keep hearing every start that he is trying to get number 100.

Pretty bad in person, eh?   I'm regularly in 315 and I can't stand it.

Really. I think it's kind of fun. And it's beginning to spread so we might have to get used to it. It's not like they score a lot. ;)

Fun game tonight.  Watching Trea in person is a treat, he absolutely changes the game much in the way that Harper did pre-first knee injury.  His speed creates errors and opportunities.

I'm still struggling to understand Dusty's bullpen management tonight.  Why not let Kelly pitch to a guy batting .188 and save Melancin?  Why the three pitcher 8th?

Nope. Only if he starts the inning. Here's the rule:

Saves:
Rule 10.20 in the Official Rule Book states:
Credit a pitcher with a save when he meets all three of the following conditions:
(1) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his club; and
(2) He is not the winning pitcher; and
(3) He qualifies under one of the following conditions:
- (a) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning; or
- (b) He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck (that is, the potential tying run is either already on base or is one of the first two batsmen he faces; or
- (c) He pitches effectively for at least three innings. No more than one save may be credited in each game.

after the game ended the scoreboard displayed the Chick-fil-a save offer graphics, but yeah, no save for Melancin.

Phil Wood noted official attendance tonight was 33,433, likely a manufactured number to honor Frank Howard (who wore #33).

Once he got up, and was really warming up after the homer. It doesnt "save" him to not let him pitch. What it does do is let Kelley save his arm to maybe go an inning today.

Doesn't OC work for the government and only have time to post during working hours?     :)
