So FP thought it was a first but it happened less than two months ago:

On June 10, the Cardinals also pulled off the "pitcher scoring as a PR for a pitcher who PH for the pitcher" trick
Bumgarner: not so unusual.
Pitcher PH: Walter Johnson did it about 110 times in his career. Johnson could hit. In 1925, Johnson hit .433 with 2 homers and 20 RBI'sin 107 PA. 6 doubles and a triple, scored 20 runs, 6Ks and 3BB.
Johnson was one of the very few right-handed batters to hit a home run over the right-center fence at Griffith stadium...not just few RH pitchers to hit one, but few hitters period. RC was about 400 feet with a 30 or 45 foot wall. Some seasons, there was a beer sign above the wall, which might account for the 15 foot difference.
Pitchers pinch-running? Common thing.
Jim Bunning used to pinch run for anybody. So did Pedro Ramos, fastest player on the late '50s Nats. (Calvin Griffith tried to set up a race between Ramos and Mickey Mantle, but the Yankees always backed out)
Bumgarner? Not such a big deal.
