Exactly.

Yes because it's happened numerous times since 2005.

How long have you been watching baseball? Until another pitcher steps onto the mound the pitcher who retired the last out remains the pitcher of record.

Surprised the Nats didn't bring in the DC Strangler.  Isn't a 4 run lead a save situation ?

Three (3)

If we have save opportunities the next two days, I don't want Papelbon to be tired out from an unnecessary appearance here.

With these consecutive wins, Strasburg is getting near Walter Johnson territory. The Big Train won something like 16 straight games in 1913, a year he went about 36 - 7, set a record with a 1.14 ERA (really 1.09, all-time best, but that requires an explanation), had 29 complete games with 11 shutouts, had 0.78 WHIP, and led the league with 243 K's.

Considering the number of starts a modern pitcher gets -- Johnson started 36 times, finished another 10 =games, and had a couple of saves -- Strasburg is having a season almost comparable to Johnson in 1913.

But would that pitcher necessarily always be awarded the win?

I've always assumed that to be true, but the reason I bring it up is because of something Phil Wood was talking about on Nats Talk last week.  It's the first time I've ever heard it mentioned, but apparently, the official scorers have the discretion to award the win to the pitcher they deem fit for the win.

In this particular case, Phil brought up Giolito's first game against the Mets.  Giolito went out after 4 because of the rain delay, up 1-0, and didn't get the win because he didn't go 5.  But, Petit comes in in the 5th, pitches 1-1/3, and leaves the game with 1 out in the 6th.

This is after the Nats had scored 2 runs in the 5th to go up 3-0.  Perez relieves Petit and pitches a total 2/3 innings and gets awarded with the win.  Phil went on to say that while this is rare, he'd been apart of a similar situation when he was an official scorer for the AL in the early 90s.

Ribeye is my usual go-to on steak night.  Decided to try something new and went with a Denver steak.  Never had one before, never heard of it before, but they looked pretty good and at a price you can't beat (on sale for $4.99/lb!).  Bought two, put them in a marinade for about 2 hours and then on the grill.  They were much thinner than I usually cook, and I wound up overcooking them to medium.  Even so, they were still tender and had really great flavor.  I'm going back tomorrow and stock my freezer.
