Hells YEAH! Great news to wake up to. A little worried about tonight being the game following the travel game to the left coast. Time changes and all that.

The 2015 Nationals won a good game last night and are about to go 34-31. They're about to get hot and push their record to 10 games over .500 on July 5.

Then we'll never hear from them or the 2005 Nationals again.

I remember 2005 well - the Nats were coming off a three-match sweep of the Cubs at Wrigley...next day came the Fourth of July and a disastrous home series against the Mets, beginning with a 5-2 loss on the Fourth and losses in three of the four matches in that series...a bitter blow from which the '05 Overachievers never recovered.

That is, of course, from Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982, rated R, directed by a woman, Amy Heckerling, written by Cameron Crowe.) Sean Penn plays the stoner who ordered the pizza. The pizza delivery guy is played by Taylor Negron, who died of liver cancer in January 2015.

In Before the Lock

Tonight's Friday game in San Diego starts at 10:40 pm ET.   (That's 7:40 pm in San Diego.)

Yep.  Went 50-31 for the first half of the season, which ended July 3, then went 31-50 in the second half.     Finished last in the division at 81-81.    :?

The heroics of Hector Carrasco and Rick Short weren't enough to overcome Nick Johnson's heal and all the rest.
