My God. GMs are idiots.

Rizzo should demand an elite starting pitcher or something unreasonable. He pulled Turner and Ross out of Souza. Some idiot GM may give up an all star for a prospect.
It doesn't hurt to ask, man. And Mike should be willing to listen to offers on anyone. Anyone.

Agreed.

"Come on, Turner and AJ Cole for Carlos Gonzalez/Ryan Braun, your best young starter, and salary relief is a bargain for you. I may get fired for this. Let's do this trade.

No. Not that I don't think it's a fair trade, I just don't think that we need to be giving up Turner for a SP.

Trea Turner for Braun, Guerra, and salary relief. Do it, Rizzo.

Getting close to the ASB in which i expect we will have our yearly discussions on who the Nats need and how we fail to get them. Obviously, the bullpen needs more arms. Perez is awful on the road, and should never pitch to a righty EVER. Treinen is confusing. Good ERA, but lower K numbers, high walks, and too many long balls make him scary every time out. Solis has better K numbers, but has been luckier by BABIP and hasn't given up as many long balls. Petit looks fine for a long man, but a tick up in walks and a second season with low K numbers scares me for anything else besides long relief. Felipe I feel is tipping pitches.

Basically, for whatever reason it comes down to Kelley and Papelbon being the only guys that can be trusted. Obviously, go get Chapman and move everyone down a peg, or Paps to the 7th. As for a hitter, let's see what the team can do with keeping Zim down until he "fixes" whatever is ailing him. I'd leave Trea up if he hits once Zim comes back and start him in CF.

I think Riz trades for a cheap & crap SP and that's the only move made.

I only see that happening if something is really wrong with Ross. Assuming Gio continues to struggle, my guess is Voth gets called up. Not sure how many starters are available at the deadline, and how many are worth picking up.

Now that Stras has been extended - I don't think they give up anything in a trade, no need to go all in this year

Voth has been rocked the last two starts. We'll see on that one. I bet we end up seeing Bronson or Latos at some point this year

2016's Jon Lannan?

I think if Gio turns it around and Ross gets healthy it may not be needed.  Ross will end up missing about 18 innings or so which means he could do a handful of 5 inning starts in September.  I think I like him better coming out of the BP though, he could be that 96-98 type of guy we need in the late innings.

Defintely; Dusty will want the vets; especially guys he has managed before.  I would rather have Voth or Lopez.  Lagos and Arroyo are cooked.

The Nats will end up picking up another starting pitcher. Latos, like Arroyo, is there for a late season start if the Nats need to set rotation or save innings. These next few weeks will determine if Nats are looking for an insurance policy or if they're looking for a fourth starter in October.

They need bullpen help much more than starting pitching.  Belisle, Perez, and others are struggling.

Exactly. We need bullpen help per usual.

If we get an OFer and move HRper to CF, I am fine with that as well.

Need:

- LH SP unless Gio does a miracle turn-around. His last two innings today were good, but before that...ouch. Too many walks, too little control.

- Time to push Solis back to starter?

- Relief pitchers more reliable than Bellisle, Perez, and Felipe Rivero

Who's available? Maybe AJ Taylor Cole, Taylor Hill, Austin Voth? Is Erik Fedde still a long-shot?

Mets looking for starters. Harvey is gone and Wheeler's rehab has not gone well. DeGrom and Colon are good; Matz has a bone spur, but is still a talented lefty who throws hard. Verret should not be starting regularly. Syndergaard might return to strength or might have ?? lingering injury. Mets also need hitting. Desperately. Maybe they reach for Puig or Braun or Bruce or Votto or Freddie Freeman? Package one of their young star pitchers plus Wheeler to a team that's willing to take a chance on their heathy rehab?

Not burning prospects for a back of the rotation LHP. Solis sucked as a starter but has found success as a relief pitcher.

Perez is a quality LHP reliever. I don' tknow about Rivero any more.

The Mets aren't trading with us.

If dusty just left Perez to get lefties out and mop up innings I'd be delighted. He should never pitch in an important spot to a right handed hitter. Ever
