These rumor sites are silly. Where would Trea even play? Yankees are set at 2nd and SS. Castro and Gregorius arent FA until 2020
The problem with having a premium prospect at an up-the-middle position is that everyone asks for him in every trade. There's absolutely no way he should be moved for a relief pitcher. Any relief pitcher. 60 innings of relief in one or two seasons at a fairly high salary is not even close in value to 6 seasons of SS or 2B with offense and even passable defense at minimum or near minimum salary. They'll want everything and a sandwich, just because they're the Yankees and they spend a lot of time sniffing their own jocks. Suppose also this: you trade Turner to the Yankees. 2 weeks later, any one of Espinosa, Rendon, or Murphy gets hurt for an extended period (hardly a stretch, especially in Rendon's case). Suddenly you've got your closer...and Stephen Drew playing in your infield every day. Then you're f'ed every day of the week and twice on Sunday. So no. Absolutely not. Papelbon closing is better than even taking the risk of that happening.
This is silly. Rizzo wouldn't trade Turner for a stud reliever with 6 years of control much less Chapman (a rental) or Miller (some control at a high salary). I don't think the Yankees have anything valuable enough for Turner.
I would trade Turner for Sanchez, Acevedo, and BetancesBut the Yankees will want starting pitching.
We've got staring pitching pieces to trade. There's a deal to be made there.
I'm not willing to give up Lopez or Giolito for Miller or Chapman alone. They'd have to include something and I don't think they'd be willing to do that. I don't think Voth is enough to get Miller or Chapman. So unless Fedde just lights it up between now and the deadline, I don't think there is a deal with the Yankees.
There are more than four pitching prospects in the system. Plenty of room to do something creative to get a deal done.
None that the Yankees will want for elite relivers. Look at what Giles garnered.
Cole and Goodwin for Miller. Maybe throw in Pap if they want him.
What would you guys be willing to give up for half a season of Chapman?
Not much. Just gave up 2 HRs. No Omar Minaya type trades!
Buy low I think I'd happily go AJ Cole, Wilmer Difo, and Jeffry Rodriguez or some other fringe prospect.I bet they'd want Lopez or Fedde though.
It wasn't contractual. More of a gentlemen's agreement.
Right, and more importantly, it applied to 2015. The "gentlemens' agreement" no longer applies.
I wonder if he'd be vindictive enough to groove a few select pitches
How would you know the difference?
