I feel like I could put the ball in play off the Cuban pitcher. I think the Rays are having trouble with him because he throws so slow.

Considering all the players fleeing Cuba every year amazing they can field a team at all. Wish they would show more of the game and less of the interviews.

Jayson Werth to LAD for free
I was thinking Werth to LA but not free. Make em pay. He has no trade anyway.

Why not? If LAD offered to take on the whole contract (which I highly doubt), yeah, I'd jump on trading him. I'm sure he wouldn't mind returning to the Dodgers, either.

So will we have to worry about the Mutts this season? I think last year was a fluke and they will behave and stay where they belong in the division basement with those other losers.

Their starting pitching (barring injuries) is good enough to make them a more than .500 team.  If they have Cespedes, Conforto and Wright for a full year that helps their offense despite losing Murphy.  See them winning about 90 again; Nats will have to be better to win or get a wild card.

I think they have too much talent to be in the basement, but I think they are being way overrated and we will be right there with them all year.

I think the Mets will be lucky to get over 85 this year. Don't trust their offense at all.

This reminds me of when Upton didn't even TRY to get a ball that was just sitting there waiting to be gotten and the Nats got screwed  >:( MLB really needs to just say if your hand can get it and you can then throw it the ball is in play.

It's preseason, he probably didn't feel like bending over to pick up a ball- which seems appropriate for preseason

Same thing in yesterday's Nats game. Osvaldo Abreu wore 91 with no name on his back and no scoreboard name or image when he came to bat.

Their offense is better entering this season than it was last year. Their middle infield additions are a bit better overall than what they had before and a full year of Cespedes and Conforto is a hell of a lot better than Cuddyer, Lagares, and the rest of the clowns they ran out there last year. Wright and d'Arnaud are health questions, but despite that, I think they're pretty decent on the offensive side.

David O'Brien @DOBrienAJC
#Braves have released Nick Swisher, who's owed $15 million

‏@JeffSchultzAJC
But he'll be highest-paid Brave on payroll this season.

Ryan Dunlevy ‏@dozer042
@JeffSchultzAJC So then I guess he'll sign with the Nats and hit soul crushing homers against the Braves this season

:lmao:

They're playing for better draft picks this year- if swisher is better than whatever stiff they replace him with, it's a bad thing.

True -- they've been eating a ton of money too. I guess it's not a stupid move, but we'll see.

Why did they acquire them in the first place? Why not just cut Chris Johnson or trade him for a C prospect?

Maybe this is true, but has Bourn played more than a reserve role for them? Maybe the money was even with the kick in from the Indians and they figured what the hell?

Uh oh Mets and Harvey:  https://twitter.com/AdamRubinESPN/status/714536774823976960

Mutt fans shamed him into pitching too many innings last year.
