Keep Dusty. The team has been good both seasons. No more experiments like Matt Williams.

Get a catcher and as dependable starting pitcher. Gio, Edwin Jackson, and AJ Cole cannot fill out the rotation. Make one more offer to Harper, and then shelve it.

Don't turn the organization upside down.

Wow.  There are people, plural, who want to keep Dusty.

Williams got us just as far as Dusty- If he’s an experiment you don’t want to repeat, then why keep Dusty

While I like Dusty a lot, the Werth situation is simply unforgivable. There's no defending him after the debacle that was this series. I wish Dusty the best and hope he gets another job but I wouldn't want him back managing this team.

Both have had two seasons managing the Nationals. Williams had one good season, one bad. Dusty has had two good seasons. So I would say Dusty has been more successful than Williams.  More successful than Davey for that matter.

Both failed in the playoffs. Dusty was terrible this season, I’d rather not waste another year of Harper and Scherzer and Strasburg’s prime to see if Dusty can finally advance a team in the playoffs

Incorrect. He got us to game four and not to the playoffs. Dusty got us to game five and game five.

All I can say is that a decision on Rusty needs to be made soon , like this week, or we will be scraping the bottom of the barrel like two years ago as the available candidates have already started interviewing. I'm speaking about Alex Cora, Mark De Rosa, John Farrell, Brad Ausmus etc.

What's incorrect?  Dusty was more successful that Matt.

I read somewhere about 2 weeks ago that all sides were in agreement for 2 years/$8m for Dusty but that they were waiting till after the playoffs to announce it. If that’s accurate then the deal is done and they’re just waiting for the press conference.

All the chatter is that both sides want a deal.

We won 83 the year before dusty arrived. He’s been the most successful manager we’ve had even if he can’t get us to win anfreaking playoff series.

I haven't seen that anywhere. I did see that Rizzo said they wanted to do that, but not that they were in agreement. I think both sides want it to happen, so I expect it will happen soon, but I don't think they've come to terms just yet, unless it's happened in the time since the season ended.

So, basically, the Learners care more about regular season profits than postseason success.

Someone should pull up that quote from the 2009(?) WaPo article when the Red Sox came to town for that exhibition game and ol’ Marky Mark Lerner got his dick hard thinking of a full stadium 81 games a year.

Alex Cora is going to make a great manager, same with DeRosa.  If the Nats give asleep at the wheel Rusty a two year extension they deserve exactly what they’ll get.

Agree and have been thinking that since last year.  Are there rumors that he's actually in the running for currently open jobs?

I think Ausmus is still good. It’s not like he was put in the best position. The fact that last years tigers were one game out of the playoffs is a testament to his ability.

I only heard rumors when the braves last had an opening. He's mentioned several times on tv that he can't believe that many playoff teams don't have the killer instinct and put teams away. I could see him wanting to claw and scratch for every run to win these close games. If the nats give dusty one more year, I'd want a guy like DeRosa or Kapler to be the bench coach (fire Spier) with an agreement to take over the team in 2019.

Davey Lopes gets way too much credit. The nats aren't great at stealing or base running. How many nats of been picked off in the playoffs the last 2 years? 2? 3?

I'd go Cora over Ausmus all day every day, Cora's going to be very good I just know it.

Cora can't interview until Houston is out, but he's supposed to be #1 on Boston's list. They talked to Ausmus yesterday and are talking to Gardenhire.
