Desmond up in a clutch situation. Prior to this season, that's a good thing.

If the Marlins find two more starting pitchers, they could be tough next season.

MAT: learn to hit. Take a pitch. Wait for a good one. Hit it hard. He's a 4th OF. Ah, if only Span had been healthy.

Nats need a slugging OF who can play CF and two or three or four relief pitchers...assuming Stammen returns healthy.

I mean the Marlins will compete. Winning season. Stanton returns. Have some hitters, but only Jose as starting pitcher.

My hunch is that Mets are gambling on this season or nothing. Will be tough to re-sign Cespedes. Over-working the young pitchers.

Any of them, although I've seen more of Heyward. He's good. (And will cost). Cespedes is good, but not in the Harper / Werth class. Benefit of getting Cespedes or <whoever> is that you subtract from the Mets.

How about define clutch for us, then we'll search the annals of baseball statistics in search of those rare 1.000 hitters in "clutch" situations.

Re Slugging OF who can play CF:  I hear good things about this Harper kid.
Re 1st pitch swinging:  Never really get this criticism assuming they are swinging at a good pitch to hit.

Overall last season, batters hit .251/.314/.386.

On 0-0 counts, batters hit .336/.341/.526.

This could end up like last night where the starter yielded 2 runs early and then shut them down for a quality outing.
