His no-hitter, one hitter and another one other shutout sandwiched in between drove his ERA down to where is is. He's a career 3.5 ERA pitcher with few complete games other than those.
If you are going to discount all his outings where he only yielded 1 or 2 runs over 7 frames or more then you have to do the same for Roark who had similar outings on top of outings that only lasted 5 innings or so. Roark's number were also aided by a couple of long outings of shutout baseball. They should both get credit for the good they accomplished.
