Well, I'll wait for C&D to finish with the recap (who wants to hear that), then see what Phil has to say.

I may go the 106.7 route as well.

Turned on the radio and 100.3 is on.   It's "Comfortably Numb".    :hysterical:

Just saw this:

In the Washington Nationals' last four losses, the bullpen has allowed 20 runs from the seventh inning on.

''This has been the biggest three games I've had in my career,'' New York manager Terry Collins said. ''Exciting games. Every one of them was a great game. Just huge comebacks, big hits, inspirational play by every guy that was out there.''

Brutal (to paraphrase Bryce).  :hang:

Slowes and Jageler last night were as glum as I've ever heard them on a Nats broadcast.

I'm so glad I decided to drink beer and eat indian food instead of watching this comedy of pace-palming disaster.

Attendances for this series:

Monday (Labour Day) - 34,210
Tuesday - 27,507
Wednesday - 27,530

Unbelievable for such a crucial series (never mind, for the moment, the galling losses these matches became)...and don't expect these Nats-Mets attendance figures to stay that low next season. Next year the bus parties from NYC will be rolling in and it'll be RFK 2005-07 all over again, mates.

Yep the Mets made a deal with the Devil.
I guess their manager's name is Applegate.

Those "announced attendance" numbers can be misleading.  For this series, I'd wager that the percentage of people who actually attended the game was much higher than other games when the announced attendance is greater.  This was a weekday series instead of a weekend series.  Weekday series attract smaller crowds.  The time of the year and the weather, I'll bet, had an influence.

It's the casual fans that pump up the attendance in all baseball cities though and this series, for some reason, didn't attract the casual fans.

First week of school and holiday travel suppresses things too. Honestly, attendance numbers mean nothing. They are simply a reflection of team success and the timing relative to people's schedules and what else is going on. If you don't attend every game you shouldn't criticize attendance. And even if you do, it doesn't matter.
