So Cardinal fans  are "fair weather", by definition.

Tell me something, is there fair weather at the top of Mount Denali?

The good ol' days when you didn't go to the games but 14 other people did.

You obviously weren't there either. But I was going to 75 games a season and loving every minute of it.

You're a real fan, I'm a fake fan.

... And for emotionally mature people, getting their kids from the babysitter becomes more important than seeing the end of a game that, even if won, would have been completely unsatisfying given how miserable the experience is...
Actually, emotionally mature people realize that spending time with their own children is more important than leaving them with a babysitter. Especially when they're going to waste a pile of money to watch a baseball game that is on TV anyway.

:hysterical:

When Admiral Irony is saying this, you know it's bad.

I'm for for fans enjoying the game any way they want. Arrive late, leave early, check your phone the whole time, I don't care. As long as you don't take away from someone else's enjoyment of the game, go for it. I'm just glad people come out to support the sport I love.

What I don't like is when people whine incessantly on message boards, especially in the GDT, and sometimes I tell them to give us a break because that takes away from other people's enjoyment of the GDT. If that makes me a member of The Fan Police, then I'm guilty.

BiL, did you break something tonight?  How'd you react to the 7th in the real world?

I thought one thread with humorous venting and one with your more serious discussion made sense.

I tell you what, I was like a deer in the highlights, just staring and not believing what I was seeing. It was surreal. I couldn't believe what was happening and toward the end of that inning I started laughing because it was downright comical. Yeah, in retrospect I think I might have had a nervous breakdown. ;)

I'm not an angry loser so I don't break things. I just get depressed for a while and then I put it in perspective. This one will take less than 24 hours or so to get over. Not as bad as the playoff losses, obviously.

After the 2012 playoff losses, when I was depressed for several days, I promised myself I would never let that happen to me again. I put it in perspective now. It's just a game.

Snark it up all you want but he's right--  DC will never be a city that PULLS A TEAM UP. Only a city that pushes an already great team forward when things are going well.

I wish it wasn't the case but the blue collared fans (I.e. the ones that don't ask me to "please sit down" in a key moment in the bottom of the 14th in the longest post season game of all time), get priced out by the smucks.

It is what it is. You can isolate one of the few clutch post season players we have based on a few games out of 162 but you're emotional, and dead wrong.

You can't afford one of the many less than 20 buck seats at the game?

FTFY.

We now have posts that are quoted that are no longer in the same thread. Sometimes Moderators need to stop trying to rearrange everyone else's thoughts.

It's a hard job, but someone has to mess things up.  By the way, which thread do you want your comment in?

I was there tonight.  Thought the fans were awesome in the 9th inning.  We were all still in shock, but we did our part.  I mean, it was LOUD before Werth stepped to the plate.

Any Nats fans who were still there in the 9th inning were awesome.

I would never leave a game before the end unless a dire situation, but I don't begrudge the people who do.

Why would anyone stay after the 7th? That was freaking awful.

And after the hit.

I was at this game, 2012 Game 5, and the 18-inning game last year.  I stayed to the end of all three.  I should stop going to games.

Also, this is perhaps the worst thread I've ever seen on this site.  If the OP wants to start a trolling thread, it's much better if it's funny. If this isn't intentional trolling, it's one of the dumbest collections of thoughts I've seen in a while.

That isn't surprising. I have found the Tuesday night crowds to be more electric, even when smaller, while the larger Sunday and holiday games can be less so. There are typically a lot of regulars at the Tuesday night games, while the sunday day games can fill up with more families with little kids going for their one game. It's the dynamics involved that many don't understand.

This.

And that Michael Powell from the NYT is an ignorant ass. I thought that was just some random dick on twitter. Then saw who it was. Wow, a NY times writer making cracks about Nats fans wearing wingtips and going to cocktail parties? Really? Glad the tax payers get to prop up wealthy New Yorkers so this guy can keep his job. Have fun in the Hamptons with your hedgefund friends jerk. Enjoy the never-ending bailouts of your lifestyle.

Wow, freak that guy.

I don't think it's a surprise that someone living in New York and working at a prestige-seeker job appears to be self-centered, arrogant, and utterly lacking in self-awareness.

The fans get NO blame. None.

This team is full of losers. Every single one of them.

I was at the game last night. The fans were into it. We did our parts.

You want better fan support Bryce? How about not go 0-4 in the biggest game of the season. How about not blowing a 6 run lead by walking 10 guys or whatever in one inning.

freak this team. I'm done for the year.
