This fanbase stinks! That's whose fault it is!
« on: September 08, 2015, 10:04:59 pm »
Snark it up all you want but he's right--  DC will never be a city that PULLS A TEAM UP. Only a city that pushes an already great team forward when things are going well.

I wish it wasn't the case but the blue collared fans (I.e. the ones that don't ask me to "please sit down" in a key moment in the bottom of the 14th in the longest post season game of all time), get priced out by the smucks.

It is what it is. You can isolate one of the few clutch post season players we have based on a few games out of 162 but you're emotional, and dead wrong.

If a team needs fans behind them to inspire them into victory, they're freaking losers any way. The Nats are freaking losers and fans aren't going to apologize for not blindly following the blind. Get over it.

Like it or not that would never happen for a slew of other teams in the league.

Sure it would. And people would buy them and go to stand around and boo the team mercilessly. Guess what, people will go back again to these games for the remainder of the season and cheer the team on. But it doesn't change the fact that the organization has failed its fanbase in so many ways.

There's no problem with our fanbase. You're delusional. What the hell are the fans supposed to do, go out on the field and give the players blowjobs?

I know I keep harping back to last year but it's because it's indicative of this fan base.  THIS year you'll waaaaaah blame it on the team.  Last year I watched a stadium that was half empty during a tie game of the longest post season game in the history of major league baseball.  If you think that's not indicative of this fan base you are DELUSIONAL.

Once again for all the people here who speak with their heart and not their heads-- STOP TAKING IT PERSONAL.  Objectively, our fan base, COLLECTIVELY, is inferior to a lot of other teams.  Yes we have phenomenal fans but so do plenty of teams.  We have a lot less of them than a LOT of other cities.  It is what it is.  If you can't see that you've got blinders on.

:lmao: the season is over, in other cities they would have been booed off the field tonight and in those great baseball cities, tickets are easy to come by when the teams start sucking- just look at cbp

This. People are so clueless about what happens in other cities. If you actually go to those games in other parks and watch the behavior of fans you see the same thing. Hell, Citi field was dead until the Mets made their moves at the deadline. And NY is the easiest place to pull in fans. Every place votes with their feet. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot.

Who cares? Our fanbase is 10 years old and full of DC goobers. It's just how it is. It doesn't affect anything. Comparing fanbases is the dumbest thing you can do in sports.

Frankly this is bullcrap.  There are thousands upon thousands of "blue collar" Skins fans (I grew up in the heart of it in the Shenandoah Valley), and that's done a whole lot of good for the past 2+ decades.

What about the SF Giants, all their blue collar fans?  You BEEN to SF or the Bay Area in general?

Nobody is blaming the fanbase.  It's not ALL OR NOTHING like you're framing it.  But it totally plays a big part, because as much as you don't want to admit it these aren't robots in a video game but humans.

so far in 2015.... pittsburg is  17th in attendance, minnesota with much less talent is 21st and houston is 22nd. How are those teams doing?

lol Players in all sports literally talk about how crowds affect games.  You don't think the Giants got a boost out of watching our half empty stadium during a home playoff game?  I'd bet you any sum of money it affects players.  Regardless it doesn't matter if you've made up your mind.  Why even watch the games if don't can't appreciate the HUMAN element of sports?  Go find some stats to explain everything, that's a lot of fun.

You watched that game or you were there? I've been a full season ticket holder for 11 years and spent somewhere in the neighborhood of 75-80k dollars on tickets. I've lost count after 600+ games and stayed to the bitter end in more than  I can remember. That playoff game was a nightmare. People weren't leaving, they were huddled in bathrooms and corners for warmth. And at some point after the 15th inning when it became clear that it was better to miss them win than watch them lose, people left, because they actually have lives and family responsibilities. And by the way, the game is supposed to be entertaining. Having a manager pull a pitcher who had retired something like 19th in a row to put in the biggest choker in the history of the team to predictably rip our hearts out again, is about the furthest thing from entertaining than I can imagine.

So, excuse people for telling Rizzo, Williams, and Storen, to go freak themselves by leaving a park a bit early in a game people knew they would eventually lose. The only problem people seem to have with this fanbase is that it isn't full of enough masochists to make certain people happy. If you don't get that, you are wearing the blinders.

Of course it affects players. But I won't blame our fans for giving up on these losers and leaving early. Just makes our fanbase smarter than turds who are unable to live in real life and who put sports above anything real. Our fans come to games, support the team, and the team responds by spitting in their faces. I guess our fans are worse than Boston fans for being sick of it!

What exactly do you mean by this?  Like the prices of everything or the stuff they put on the jumbotron or something else?

The miserable way they manage every aspect of customer service from ticket sales to park entry to concessions. The best part of the experience is the stadium and the view of the game, which is what it is all about. But Kasten, Pfeffer, and whoever else has come after have made sure that the business side of the organization is a disaster when it comes to providing a quality customer experience.

I literally have pictures on my phone of a half empty stadium.  I was there.  And it was upper 50's low 60's.  Boo hoo.  I was in a jersey too, it was a little chilly but hardly so cold people had to huddle around bathrooms.  Maybe you're the problem too.  It was a Saturday night post season game.

The fact that you're justifying leaving early because you're too emotionally immature to deal with the IDEA of losing a game is hilarious.

Do they still run out of money, food, and cups in the club section regularly?

I had a terrible experience with their ticket people...basically I was told to go to three different gates where I was made to stand around and wait before finally going to the box office and getting into the game.  The whole experience took around four full innings.  It was a nightmare.

I can't really get too mad about concessions prices because it's that way at every stadium.

Could be worse, you could've paid $50 to leave tickets at will call!!
