Scherzer vs. Flande (who?)

Honestly, if we lose this game this team should be contracted.

Yep. And that's why it hurts so bad to be behind them.
Genuinely feel like we will pull it out though bro. Lots of positives from this game. Werth and Zimmerman both look like their back. The zimm half this message board counted out...let that be a warning to you, never count out Ryan Zimmerman. Really feel like Span and Turner are the two missing pieces this team needs.

Michael Taylor should bat 5th and Werth 6th, etc
Fully on board with Desi batting 8th every time in lineup. Lowers expectations when he's at bat.

I'll be up late.   I'll look for ya.    Any idea where you'll be sitting?

Section 146 for all three games unless I get shanked by a dodgers fan in the parking lot, but I don't expect that to happen because if the nats can't win then I can't celebrate obnoxiously.

Yes it did.

What surprised me more though is that he did not say anything about Ramos' baserunning on that near-homerun when asked.

Looks like you could get some foul ball action.

Don't wear a SF Giants hat.
Went to game there years ago and had a nice time.

This team is what it is: a talented but streaky and ultimately soft team. It was good enough to win a couple of division titles, but it won't do anything more. We could still end up winning the division this year, the Mets aren't that good either and are probably due for a cold streak, but we won't do anything in October. I mean the past two weeks showed it clearly. When the going gets tough, this team folds. Good front running team, that's it.

This team reminds me of the late 90s/early 00s Bucaneers of the NFL. All the talent in the world, but paper soft when it mattered most. They ended up winning the Super Bowl when they hired firey as hell Jon Gruden. We need someone with that combination of fire and intensity while also having baseball smarts and ingenuity. Matt Williams has neither.

Zimmerman should bat third and Harper fourth.  But this makes too much sense so Williams will never do it.

I'm not sure which reporter asked it, but after Matty said "we're looking foward" he said something like "do you ever look back at what happened? Don't you have to do that to learn from what went wrong?"

Matty snapped something like if we aren't looking forward to playing tomorrow what the hell are we doing here?

It's all bullcrap.  Of course they look back at the mistakes that they make. They just either don't think it's time to react, or can't think of a better alternative.

As G'burg said  ...   but what struck me was someone actually challenged one of Williams' Williamsisms.   Good, solid question and Williams gave some puckered up response.    He's drowning.

He's not been good tactically, and strategically, they've shot their wad. Unless Matty suddenly becomes Showalter, it's over.

I don't wanna beat the dead horse but  ..   I will.    :)     Williams and Rizzo (to a lesser degree) are by the book guys.   They don't appear to be able to adapt to unscripted moments.    Whether it's cybermetrics, bringing in a reliever, etc., if it ain't in the book, they flounder and start trying to baffle us with bullcrap.    There is an argument to be made about not airing laundry in public but Rizzo has to have Williams on his mind.

Yeah, and all I meant is we should not expect a significant change to the composition of the team. The only ways to win more are to a) perform better and b) manage better.

I know it wasn't MASN Dan.    :)      I'm pretty sure it wasn't any of the media (TV and radio) guys that I've heard in the local market.    I was thinking print  ...   Times or the Post.    It wasn't Chelsea Janes.    :P     Almost sounds like Boz but I don't think Williams would dismiss him like that.

Does the Times have a Nats beat reporter? I thought they went fully political since they went online only.
