i thought he was terrible as a face, he has been nothing since the HHH angle/face turn after he first got hot. I'm looking forward to heel Punk, hopefully teaming with Bryan.
The problem with him as a face was that the writers were making him super Punk... pretty much the same as Super Cena. It's annoying. Cena has ruined this company. I'm not saying I hate the guy but I hate the character Cena. He always seems to win. The company has placed him above the championships. He does the same moves over and over (also known as the 5 Moves of Death or 5MOD). And he has been the same character for almost 6 years now. They won't have any progression with the company until they're able to create something new and fresh with him rather than worrying about him selling merchandise.
Another character that they've ruined is Sheamus. That dude is so annoying now. He was pretty damn good as a heel but ever since his Brogue kick became his finisher, his matches are so predictable. He's the second Cena.
Anyway, I do think Bryan/Punk would be a good tag team. Supposedly they're teaming up at a house show coming up. I would love to see that.
I just can't stand how this PG era has killed off the almost all the charisma it had back in attitude era and into mid 2000's. There are some good moments on Raw every week but for the most part, I find myself bored with a lot of matches because they're so easy to determine.
Also, they've failed to have a bunch of high tier wrestlers like they did back in the day.
Attitude Era/Early 2000's
-Jericho
-HHH
-Undertaker
-Kane
-Rock
-Stone Cold
-Batista
-Cena
-Angle
-Brock Lesnar
-RVD
-Jeff Hardy
-Edge
-Benoit
etc, etc, etc.
Now we have:
High Tier:
-Cena
-Punk
-Randy Orton
Mid-High Tier:
- Sheamus
- Del Rio
- Bryan (could easily be high tier but they've failed to do much with him for now aside from his brilliant promos)
- Ziggler now
- Kane
- Big Show
Mid-Tier
- Miz
Low-Tier
-Everyone else
Then we have HHH, Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, and The Rock who don't compete consistently aside from major PPV's.
Develop more talent and do more with them, dammit. Make titles worth something. Remember how huge a character Jericho was but he competed for the intercontinental title? He's won it 11 times. It meant something.
Now its just another belt.
