That sixth extra base hit snuck up on Matt
Not pulling Max was inexcusable.
The players want to win no doubt, the role of the manager is to get them collectively into a position to win. Mattie fails here miserably; he has no clue who to play beyond his etch-sketch approach to substitutionsCasey Jansen has been an epic fails for awhile now, ERA ~5 and against David Wright, fresh meat
For a MLB Manager I am shocked how little at he has no feel or understanding of the abilities of his bullpen- Is McCatty giving him bad intel or is he not listening?
He's probably not listening.
I think MW would probably make a good hitting coach.
What really stinks is that I want the Nats to make the playoffs, but MW is incompetent and I want him gone. The only way that happens, or at least potentially happens, is if the Nats don't make it. I'm conflicted.
For everyone upset about MW not pulling Scherzer after giving up the 4th run, what would it have mattered? You saw what the pen did the next two inninings.
I'd go for as many runs as I could by pinch hitting for Scherzer.
I think PH potentiall scoring 2 to give us a 3 run lead and then 2 innings of Fister could have been different - we will never know. It was all false hope, I have given up and so have the team. freak them
I don't understand this concept of the team "giving up." They lost, but it's not for lack of effort. Are you saying they were not trying?
Did you feel even a glimmer of hope after the Mets tied it up?
Of course I had hope. I was just at a game on Friday where they tied it with two outs in the ninth and won it in extra innings. Three runs is one swing in baseball. But no matter. It's not about efforts, heart or hustle. They just got beat.
Maybe if you're Ian Desmond
But no matter. It's not about effort, heart, or hustle. They just got beat. The other guys get paychecks too.
