I agree - if the third base bag is empty, a bunt attempt, even if it goes foul, will make them rethink a shift -real- fast. That opens up more gaps and lets him hit pull or away and still get results.

Harper seemed pretty resigned to getting hit tonight in retaliation for Papelbon hitting Machado.  I imagine he isn't real happy with Paps right now.

What's this fascination he has with showing bunt all the time?  Sluggers don't bunt. Period. It ain't manly for one.  :whip:

6 for 22 bunting for a hit.  Harper said he wanted to get on base for Werth.

Well, that's flawed thinking.  Werth is one of the main reasons we've lost these first two games.

He meant that he was trying to get on for Clint--that was flawed also last night

I decided to go the game just to see a throwdown.

It is flawed thinking, but it's flawed also because he gets on base more often than anyone else, by walking.

So media is spinning Harper's postgame comments to mean that he doesn't support Papelbon hitting Machado last night.  Assuming Harper is beaned this afternoon does he put his head down and go to 1st or chirp like Machado?

He should run to third and junk punch Machado.

1st to 3rd or directly from Home to 3rd?  Because the latter would be freaking awesome

Home to third   ...  it would take everybody by surprise creating less of a chance for an intervention.

It'll give us something to talk about in the GDT.   :)

He should run to third and junk punch Machado.

Running from home to third, he'd lose the element of surprise.  He should hit a triple and then junk punch him.

The element of surprise is running from home to third.    But I like your plan as well.

he should just walk up to the mound, take the ball from roark and keep throwing at batters until he gets tossed- at least he'd make sports center

Hopefully Bryce has now changed his mind on Williams staying on as manager.

If Bryce gets hit and Williams gets tossed, I might extend his stay 'til Memorial Day.

FP is a non-starter. 3B is way more premium, and Donaldson is great at it. Aside from that you have a point.

3B is more premium than CF? I don't think so ...

Far more offensive production is expected from a third baseman, so from a purely defensive perspective, centerfield is more important.   I think when someone says third is more important than center they are saying it's more important to have a heavy hitting third baseman than a light hitting centerfielder.

You know what, freak Harper.  This team is PUTRID PUKE, there is nothing about it to like, including Harper. So freak him.  He's part of this dysfunctional mess, by being part of the team. So freak him.  He's a great player and none of this is his fault: freak him anyway.

I'm so sick of this lazy bunch of dickheads I want to puke.

Harper is an innocent victim of my vile hate but that's how it goes sometimes. So freak him.

I am mad at him for the fraternization with Machado before the game.  Wasn't the right time or place.  And he had the nerve to call the fans out a couple of weeks ago.
However, lock him long term please.
