Seems like there should be a player of the year award for each league and an MVP for MLB as a whole.
Haha ok you got me, clearly it's just my opinion, but at the same time to me it's common sense. The best statistical player if it's not close, and if it's extremely close then the person who really helped his team win the most.
Best pitcher on a playoff team - no, unless it's a shockingly fantastic season and there are no stellar hitters numbers-wise that year
Cespedes' September has been unreal as has the Mets'. I think he has a legitimate case for NL MVP.
Break the bank on this guy. Do it this winter.
1.134 OPS. Best since Bonds. 6th in RBIs now as well.
Pay the guy and extend him please.
He is not extendible. He's a Boras client.
If I was staring that kind of money in the face i'd eliminate the risk asap.
You wouldn't have chosen Boras for an agent. If Harper is willing to defy Boras, then why did he chose him for an agent? The answer is obvious, Boras gets alot of money for his clients. But if you chose him, you do what he tells you.
It's always better to get more money up front since it is worth more than future dollars--so if he can get lots more money the next two years by signing a new contract that could outweigh any benefits down the road. And as noted he came up so young he could sign for 5-7 years and still get another big free agent contract after that. If he wants to look in his own clubhouse for an example of the waiting risk he can do that with Ryan Z.
