I loved Ryan Church as well. Always seemed like people focused too much on what he couldn't do instead of focusing on what he could do.
We always had much bigger problems, so I never understood why any of the focus was on him.
In a classic early Nats move, they sent him to the minors at the beginning of the 2006 season after a rookie season where he put up a 118 OPS+ for Brandon Watson, who ended up having a .385 ops in 9 games, because Watson "won the job in spring training".
It was a dark time.
