You have to compare that to others in the same situation.  Of COURSE with 2 strikes you've already got two strikes against you.

I think I did that, pretty much. I don't find a one year sample of something like "hitting with 2 strikes" particularly predictive. For his career, if anything, he's a smidgen better than an average hitter with 2 strikes. He's not a great 2 strike hitter or anything.

Since 2006, he ranks 51st in OPS out of 228 players with 1000 or more 2-strike PA. He ranks 66th in overall OPS out of 200 players with 200 or more PA during the same time period.

So like I said, he's a little better than average. He moves into the top 25% instead of being the top third. Minor improvement.

IF you want a good two strike hitter, how about Marco Scutaro having a .666 OPS from 2006-2012, only 76 points less than his overall OPS? Crazy. 22nd best two strike hitter in baseball over that time period.

Someone with the user name BRYC SUCKS took Georgetown to win the Championship in the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament, in a March Madness money pool.  #2 Georgetown just lost their first match to #15 Florida Gulf Coast. One and done...

we were joking in the stands today that after his second AB, Harper was on pace for 648 Home runs, and he already had a OPS of 2.000.

Blue and I would have called it but we were at the bar.

Why?  You had all off season to hit the bar.  I was good and loaded up from the tailgate before getting to my seat, held my urine, and stayed put for the entire two and a quarter hours.  Missing a Harper AB on OD is a crime.

when I logged into Facebook this morning, It showed "Phillies Nation" as a page I should like.

And it had this:

Quote
Bryce Harper is 2-for-2 with 2 HR on Opening Day. The dislike level is off the charts. He's approaching Sidney Crosby territory.

Tater Trot Tracker

Trot Times for April 1

by Larry Granillo, Baseball Prospectus
http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=20074

Quote
Before Clayton Kershaw decided to take everything into his own hands, this home run from Harper seemed liked the obvious choice for Home Run of the Day. On the second pitch of the season to the 20-year old, Harper connected for his first home run, a long fly ball that carried over the right field wall. In typical Harper fashion, he sprinted it out to the tune of 17.61 seconds (so fast, in fact, that the MASN television cameras didn't know quite what to do). With Harper owning the two quickest trots of 2012*, though, we know that the trot could have been even faster. Harper's day continued in his second at-bat, when he hit his second home run of the season. At 18.96 seconds, that trot felt considerably slower than the first despite being the second quickest trot of the day.

Considering the red hot spring Bryce Harper had and his amazing performance on Opening Day, we might be in for a special season from the Nationals' phenom.

*Harper's fastest trot of 2012 was 16.2 seconds.
