Braves Emerge As Third Team In Latos Trade; “Significant” Players Involved
By Jeff Todd [July 29, 2015 at 7:36pm CDT]

7:36pm: If the deal gets done, a young starter will go from the Braves right into the Dodgers rotation, Sherman tweets. A reliever of some kind also factors into things, Jim Bowden of ESPN.com tweets.

The sides have previously discussed catcher A.J. Pierzynski, Mark Bowman of MLB.com tweets, though it’s not clear he’s involved.

So the Dodgers apparently are including Hector Olivera in the Latos deal. Already giving up on him?

Wilmer Flores is on the field crying because he's been traded. Mets still haven't taken him out of the game.

Rangers “Getting Close” On Hamels Trade
By Steve Adams [July 29, 2015 at 8:49pm CDT]

The Rangers and Phillies are “getting close” on a trade that would send Cole Hamels to Texas, reports MLB.com’s T.R. Sullivan (All Twitter links). According to Sullivan, there are still some hurdles to clear, but a deal could be worked out as soon as Thursday.

That would have to involve trading one of our pitchers to a third club. Fister to where? Who wants Fister?
Toronto.

Awesome. Now all we need to do is hope Toronto or New York goes all-in for Price and the Dodgers will be stuck with their crappy #3 starter.

Told even more players in Hamels deal than what is being reported by others: Hamels, Diekman, cash for Alfaro, Williams, Eickhoff, Asher.

Matt Harrison, too. Any thoughts on the prospects they got back? Alfaro and Williams - pretty good

According to my reading they got the Rangers 4-5-6 prospects along with two lower level guys. Harrison has apparently just returned from spinal surgery?  Seems their taking him was probably in lieu of sending more cash to Texas. Apparently the Stros made a good pitch also but Hamels would not waive his no trade clause. Wife is from the Dallas area. Henpecked.

All over MLB Network. Alderson came out and said no deal now, and there will be no deal, at all.

What a mess.  No wonder Flores was still in the game.

But he was told by someone he had been traded... that's why he was crying while playing.

Feel terrible for the guy.

Thompson's the best of the bunch. Alfaro probably won't stick behind the plate, but could. Solid power. Williams could be a 5-tool guy. Leatherpants has to be drooling.

Didn't Collins say something like, "I've been crying in the third inning, but no one helped me"???

Yep. That's what I heard. Funny. At least to me.  Maybe not to Flores.

Me too, Alex Cora was just on MLB Network saying when Dave Roberts was traded to Boston in 04 he cried too, but he found out in his manager's office while poor Flores was in the middle of a flippin' game!! What a complete cluster of a night for the Metsies :smh:
