Taylor figuring out ML hitting is so, so huge.  Much like Espi, he plays good enough defense that a slash line of .250/.335/.430 he'll be worth 4+ WAR
Have no idea what the WAR stuff means but he is getting better. Needs to work on his defense.

WAR measures his value relative to the ML-average at his position based on runs created by hitting, walks, and baserunning, as well as runs saved by defense.  If your WAR is 0 or negative, a replacement level player can do better than you.  1-2 is ML average.  3-4 is solid.  4-5 is all-star.  6+ is MVP candidate.

Taylor has been the best outfielder in baseball this year according to fangraphs

Ok but he also ran a circle around a ball in the first inning which cost us a run.
so assume that's factored in?

Yes, it's a statistic called UZR which puts a number to a player's range.

That being said, I have no idea what you mean by he "ran a circle around a ball".  That hit was in the gap the entire way.

Nah, Taylor's got 4 or 5 inches on Span and he couldn't get it.

He ran parallel to the warning track rather than in and the ball dropped in front. As FP noted the ball was in the air a long time. Too bad he just missed that HR. Good effort.

Isn't that the stat that takes 3 years or so to normalize?

Span would have climbed the wall...and as a lefty, he'd have a better shot at a ball hit to his right.

You buyin' that?  :D

Span's "span" is probably eight inches less than Michael A.'s. Taylor's a tall guy.
Span would have had that...

Well, we should all just tend to any other business we have, the offense already scored their token two runs for the night.
