Scherzer is now 60th among all-time pitchers in the JAWS metrics for making the HoF.  He's obviously a HOF'r though I'd guess not on the first ballot.  The only thing hurting his case is that he's only throw around 2,300 innings.  Figure another 4 seasons averaging 175 innings and he'll get another 700 before he retires.

For comparison:
Roy Halladay: 2749 IP, 3.38 ERA, 2117 Ks, 203 wins
Scherzer: 2290 IP, 3.20 ERA, 2692 Ks, 170 wins

Scherzer is 24th all time in Ks, he'd have to hit 2833 to crack the top 20.

The awards is where is really shines: 3 Cy Youngs, a 2nd place, a 3rd place, and two 5th places in the last seven years.  Led the league four times in wins, twice in IP, 3 times in Ks, 4 times in WHIP, twice in games started, three times in complete games, twice in shutouts, and three times in K/9.

His post-season numbers are pretty solid as well now:
18 starts, 4 relief appearances, 112 IP, 3.38 ERA, 1.134 WHIP, 11 K/9

If he averages 175 innings for four more seasons, he will likely crack the top 10 in strikeouts.

Apparently, when Scherzer got his 7/210 offer from Washington, he told Waino to tell the Cards front office that they didnt need to match, just be in the same ballpark.

Cards never made an offer

At least going by the above quoted part, it doesn’t sound like this was Scherzer bringing it up now versus Wainwright talking about Max being open to a hometown deal on a contender with a reasonable offer. Speaking of these two pitchers in St. Louis:

Oh, that team was perfect. And Rendon was so good back then. I had forgotten how this game went. Thanks
