We would have traded him to the Rangers for Kinsler?

I remember sitting with my cousin Billy Burns who would go on to be Minor League POY for the Nats that year during Spring Training at some sandwich shop.  MAT walked in with his Dad and Billy pointed him out and said who he was and that he was a very talented prospect.  I knew the name but not the face at that time.

On a day/night where it was seemingly impossible to hit the ball out.  MAT.  There's your 2018 starting CF.  This guy is blossoming.  He's had great ABs this series when basically all others are struggling.

I can't say enough about Michael A. Taylor.  I was dreading going into the bottom of the 8th and 9th innings with only a 1-run lead.  Even though we straightened out our bullpen, I was a nervous wreck.  What a fantastic grand slam from a modest and very likeable guy!!

On the other hand,  he's flourishing where he is. Best to not screw with it?

Slateman is now gargling Dusty Baker's balls by saying that Dusty was correct in batting him 8th. :hysterical:

Exactly.  I wonder how far the ball would have traveled if the wind was blowing out?

What are we going to do with Robles?  If Harper leaves, maybe we'll still be OK in the outfield.  If he stays, our options for getting a decent return for trading 1-2 of our outfielders are looking better and better.

Robles arm is good enough for RF.

Y'all thought I was kidding when I posted this:

Taylor has that slot blocked for the next decade. Get to the corner, young Victor
Michael Taylor is the opening day center fielder next year. No longer a question. And if he keeps a solid OPS while playing good defense then he'll be out there for a while.

As far as his place in the lineup, I don't think he profiles at top of the lineup. In a less crowded lineup I think he'd be a good 5/6 hole hitter. He has some pop.

I could see him getting traded. I hope not, but with how Robles is progressing I could see it.

Of course it's only an educated guess, but I still think Robles probably will be better than Taylor eventually, even if Taylor keeps improving.

I don't see it next year. MAT in CF, Eaton in RF and Harper in LF. Robles is the 4th OF.

Not that moi is pretentious or anything, quoting myself, but I just saw this:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/nationals/through-teeth-of-a-wrigley-wind-michael-a-taylor-shows-his-power/2017/10/11/55bd6e98-aeda-11e7-a908-a3470754bbb9_story.html?utm_term=.9008a6666a90

“That took a man to hit that through that wind tonight,” Daniel Murphy said. Taylor hit the ball with an exit velocity of 106 miles per hour, and it only just landed in the basket above the right center field wall.

“To leave the way he did, that just shows you how far and how hard he hit that ball,” Werth said. “On a different day, with a different wind, I would like to have seen how far that ball would have went.”

Brilliant minds think alike! :mg:
