Really like this kid - both his hitting and his fielding.

Really like this kid - both his hitting and his fielding.

Just a nice compact swing, once he develops better pitch recognition and makes more contact he will be great - he always makes good contact when he hits it

Given the shared last name, I'll be ordering a jersey soon.

Michael Taylor has learned to field CF. Tough way to learn major league hitting. Just wait til next year?

His age 24 season (2015) compares favorably to Carlos Gomez's age 24 season (2010).  Better ISO and HRs, slightly worse OBP, better defense, fewer steals, and worse K rate.  Gomez had had 1100 MLB PAs before age 24.

Werth is under contract through '17, so unless you find someone willing to pick up a $21 million broken down werth, he's your left fielder for the next two years

I think at some point they just cut bait. A lot of money, but Rizzo is a smart guy.

I think he'll still be productive.  Sorry, but I'll go on his track record of the past 3 years and not the 100 ABs this year.  If he's healthy this guy is going to be a productive batter for us.  I do worry about him in the OF, tho.

Werth to 1B and pick someone up for a couple of years to play LF until one of the OF prospects is ready to play?  I think it will take Robles 3 to 5 years to become a regular in the league and there's no way I can stand watching den dekker play if Werth gets injured again.

I doubt Span will be extended given that Taylor looks ready to take the CF job full time.  I am just worried about LF right now and for the next couple of years.  I am really bummed out that Goodwin hasn't shown progress imho.

You're right, Werth to catcher.

Werth has been pretty good the last few years. No reason not to believe he can give the Nats solid play next couple seasons. Even if his power is just gone he can slot in at leadoff like he did in 2012.

In 2017, he'll be the Christine Rampone of the World Champs.  Spiritual leader and captain on the bench who gets into a couple games to spell exhausted regulars.

But what reason is there to believe he can stay healthy enough to play even 100 games.

that's a lot of money to sit on the bench and MLB players with that much left on a deal have no incentive to retire

You think he would quit before the end of his contract, and leave all that money behind?

That's true, but it may not be voluntary if his body decides to retire before his brain does.

I think his power being gone is reactionary to his injury this year.  As you mentioned, he's coming off a combined 10 WAR in 2013 and 2014.
