My goodness...  there's no way we can let the Phillies sweep us.  If so, I give up on this season totally.

Going negative before the game even starts?

I was just teasing ya...  We'll win 3 of 4 at least and I will remain positive.

Hopefully with the bats waking up and Fister being a solid pitcher, hopefully we can bunker down and pull out a win.

4-6 looks so much nicer than 3-7.

If we can't beat these guys into oblivion with Jeff Francouer batting cleanup we don't deserve to be in the playoffs.

Why does Matt Williams insist on hitting our best hitter 5th?

I would make one small but radical change.  Flip Desmond and Werth.  I'm a slave to the belief that plate discipline and ability to take walks is more important at #2 than #3, and I don't mind Desi's all or nothing hard contact approach at #3.

Is Desi batting second so "we can get him some fastballs"?

No.

Is there any evidence to support that it does or does not?

I think it is psychological and it worked.

He was so distraught after Game 2 in Boston.  Williams probably brought him in the office and said "You know what?  You're a stud and we believe in you and you got this.  In fact, you're in the 2 hole tomorrow because we love you.  Haterz gonna hate."

Then, all puffed up, he went out and got a walk and a homer.

"Good defense by the left side of the Nats"

Desmond didn't touch a ball in play.

Why even start Bryce against a LHP?
