Makes as much sense as anything I could think of...but the 800Lb gorilla in the room in that kind of scenario would, I think, be the Mets - if NYM manage to re-sign their free agents (especially Cespedes) they could be settling in the upper reaches of the division for a nice long stay, regardless of what the other four clubs do (of course the Braves could try for the wild card but...).

if the 2012 nats prove anything, it's that projecting continued dominance from a core of young players making a great run is foolish
