Cue the Red Sox.
don't need the bat, I think.  They like Hanigan, and they are sort of just clock watching with Leon waiting for Swihart. They will not pick Salty up on waivers, but if Loria is paying him . . .

is that his second?

Don't think so... I know he had a ton of shoulder issues.

Homer Bailey put back on DL with a sprained elbow... so he might be having his second TJ soon enough.

yeah, and he missed a bunch of time last season, just when it seemed he'd finally put it together at the ML level.

The Orioles intend to play the final game of their series against the White Sox at 2:05 p.m. Wednesday, and it will be closed to the public.

Also, the three-game series against the Rays slated to begin Friday has been moved to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. The Orioles will serve as the "home" team and receive the gate.

Never heard of a baseball game being closed to the public before

So, essentially, the Orioles will be playing four straight games in an empty park.

i can certainly think of a few that 'should' have been closed to the public, like, um, our last six.

According to John Thorn, official historian for Major League Baseball, this will be the first game with zero attendance. The previous low was 6, for a Sept. 28, 1882 game between the host Worcester Ruby Legs and Troy Trojans. In 2002, the minor league Charleston Riverdogs barred fans for five innings in an attempt to set a record for lowest attendance.

Wasn't there a soccer match not that long ago that was played under similar conditions?

There have been many...Palermo in Serie A played most of a season under lockdown. Russia and Serbia have had to play some internationals in closed stadiums because of hooliganism in the stands.

I tuned to MASN a couple of minutes ago. Man, it's weird seeing them play in an empty stadium.

It is odd and I keep anticipating crowd noise.

Me too, it sounds like my son's little league games where you could hear all the teammates cheering and nothing else.

There were a few games at RFK Stadium that were like that.

Kurt Suzuki put the Twins on his back last night.

Quote
After Arcia struck out, Suzuki came through with an RBI single to give the Twins the lead. It was the kind of big hit the Twins didn't get in their 5-4 loss on Monday.

"When you have a guy on second base, Sanchez becomes even tougher," Suzuki said. "You have to really get a pitch to hit and be selective up there. You can't overthink things, because he throws, like, six pitches."

He got scooped up in both my fantasy leagues... including my two catcher league... he would have been a great second catcher.

The Sox are going to hang onto all their prospects and meanwhile they desperately need pitching.
Division is not that strong so maybe their strategy will work?????

According to Red Sox fans, all of their prospects are baseball equivalents of Jesus and are far too valuable to trade, even if they got three Cole Hamelses in return.

The funny thing is that if their prospects are such sure things it's not clear why they needed Hanley Ramirez or Sandoval.

DO NOT QUESTION IT. GARIN CECCHNI AND RUSNEY CASTILLO ARE DOUBLE BASEBALL JESUSES!
