Rendon isn't just getting a second opinion but also a THIRD opinion:

Quote
In fact, the plan as of Monday for Rendon is to have his left knee also evaluated by a third doctor, according to people familiar with the situation. Rendon is also scheduled to visit with a knee specialist from the Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO. Rendon’s knee has bugged him longer than first expected and this way his joint can be examined by several sets of expert eyes to be sure why.

Good.  He may need a tiebreaker.

Does Andrews do the PRP in house or does he outsource it?

Read that Andrews found no other damage and knee is structurally sound, needs more rest.  So I guess its good news.  On to doc #3.   Has Rendon had any injury history?   He may not be used to playing with pain, or may lack confidence in the knee and its holding him back.  I guess we'll know more in a couple days.

Yes. The reason he fell to the Nats was due to injury concerns.

Rendon has a huge injury history.  A broken ankle and injured shoulder in college.  That's why we were able to draft him.  Otherwise, he would have been the #1 or 2 pick in the draft.  He also missed his first year in the minors with another broken ankle.

"The Nationals' top-rated prospect hasn't made it through a full year without some sort of injury since high school."

if he was injury free he wouldn't be a nat.

Yikes.  That makes it more scary.  Having been through that much, he should have a good feel for when things are healing and when they're not and I'm sure he's used to playing with some level of discomfort.  If he feels something isn't right, he's probably right.  (the old "hurt" vs. "injured" cliche).

Andrews made remarks to the effect of its not "day to day" or "month to month", likely in the "week-to week" range.  We may be lucky to see him May 1.  I sure hope its earlier than that.

i caint imagine Rendon going to a special knee SURGEON if Andrews indicated knee was going to fully heal without surgery. My guess, Andrews said it's best to have surgery, Rendon asked, "Is there anyone else I should talk to to make sure?"

I wonder if was Anthony's choice or the team's?

It was Boras idea as he has all his clients have the option to go to Steadman - Hopkins in Vail.

Isn't Steadman the guy who pioneered microfracture surgery?

Is still having inflammation 3 weeks after the injury the odd thing with Rendon's knee?  Even if the tear needed surgery, they could not go in with inflammation, right?

You wouldn't begin a rehab program if surgery was the answer. Andrews agreeing with the Nats is a double edged sword because it does nothing to help Rendon get ready. I hope Singleton can come up with an alternate plan to address Rendon's injury.

I'm guessing is that, with no clear indication for surgery, they started a rehab program as if no surgery were necessary. Sort of like you try rest and rehab before UCL surgery (as if that ever works). Is the inflammation the mystery here?

Well when standard protocol doesn't work what's next? I'm hoping they start a PRP program and shut him down for a couple of weeks then start him up again.
