It was inevitable...

Yup, inevitably we'll end up with the same result (i.e. dead last in the division), however for 2026, looks like we're gonna get there in April (and stay there for the rest of the Summer :|

Speaking of start times, the Sunday, 9/14 game was moved to an 11:35am first pitch.

Has Nats Park security gotten even more strict? We brought our water bottles, two each, in a six pack, they made me remove the wrapping and carry them in individually. Why? They made us take our sunblock back to the car. Then an usher, who was allowing other people to sit in the shade made me move. Nationals Park had a literal mass casualty event just a couple months ago based on heat related issues. I don't care if the team has low payrolls, is the Lerner family waiting until someone dies before they change their policies?

We managed to last 4 innings before he had enough with Irvin's performance and wanted to go home. Still was a lot of fun though. We were in the 300s behind home plate and he had never been that high up before. The staff were all very helpful too and pointed us to where we could get his first game certificate and the Kid's Eat Free booths without us having to ask.

I used to say that we had to stay for the seventh inning stretch. We'd bring a ton of snacks (pre-sliced apples are great) to keep them happy. We'd time out when my wife would take them to the kids zone for a couple innings.

We'll work our way up to that pretty quick hopefully. He's only 3 so I probably should have started him with a minor league game first. It was also his first time on the metro so that was an experience all on its own.

I wonder how many cases of beer I smuggled into RFK and Nats Park in the bottom of diaper bags. The good old days.

Article about the scoreboard operator for 20 years before they replaced him with AI. It would be nice if that computer could get the scoreboard above the Red Loft working again, it was the only scoreboard that didn't show ads so it was the only place that you could always check the score. At it stands, it's clear that the Nats value showing ads over keeping fans up to date on the games.

I recall that many years ago someone from the scoreboard operations staff used to get very upset at online criticism. Maybe that was on the MLB message board.

IIRC, they turned off the scoreboard above the loft because batters complained about it being a distraction.

They replied to me on Twitter that they were working on a resolution but that was getting to be a while ago.
