At least the Trop is no longer.

As for best ballparks, I can accept OPACY as better than Nats Park. Nats Park is perfectly middling. Plain, if not ugly, with bad drainage in the stands in spots, but very good site lines, good SRO options, and overpriced but decent quality concessions. I have not been to many parks other than Nats, OPACY, and Fenway that are still active (Kingdome, Vet, 2d Yankee), and I have not been to Fenway since the renovation cycle was completed, but I think there are parks you go to for one-time experiences like Fenway and others that are good for regular attendance. I think Nats Park is low on the first and average on the latter.

Trop will be back next year and until they decide what they will do.

Manfred said yesterday on Chris Russo's show that he is hopeful that the Trop will be ready for 2026 but he's not 100% sure

Worst baseball experience ever was the Astrodome...even worse than Wrigley, which was no easy feat...

Wrigley is terrible but the Kingdome was by far the worst venue. Somebody was described the experience as “watching a game inside a battleship”.

I found the St Pete stadium to be weird also.  Similar to that feeling.

I liked Wrigley.  It's old and out of date but also unique.  No other stadium has that ivy or that scoreboard.  And I got a ball from  Nats playoff legend Sammy Solis!

At the moment it would like watching baseball in a birdcage

Last night was pups in the parks, with post-game fireworks. Not a good combination.

Unbelievable. When the promotions folks were designing the promo schedule, wasn’t there anyone there who had the common sense to realize what a bad combo that was?? And if the promotions team didn’t figure it out, whatever senior manager who had final approval should have seen the issue. It’s hard to believe that not one person anywhere in that front office looked at this schedule and said, “Wait a minute. Maybe this isn’t a great idea.”

I saw some threads on reddit from people who went. Some didn't realize it was fireworks night until after they got there and left early.

I enjoyed the fireworks but not announcing them ahead of time was idiotic. After only listing the Friday, July 3 postgame fireworks prior to the start of the season, I see that they've also snuck in an additional one on Friday, August 1. The promotions people for the Nats are truly awful at what they do.

Out-of-towner here with a question:

We are going to the 4 p.m. game tomorrow. Would we better off on the right- or left-field side? I.e., in which seats would the sun be in our eyes?

Thanks!

Along the 3rd base line is gonna be the best...1st base line and right field can be brutal sun fields, less so for a 4:00 game, but still...

yes, right field / right center at 4 can be really sunny for a while. I went earlier in the year and it was tough even then. 1st base line for a 4 pm game  should be OK in terms of glare and the sun isn't too brutal.

If you are at field level, the downside for 3rd base is that's where the opposing fans are.

I'm going tomorrow and have seats around 113 near the field. 113 is a price break on the 3rd base side. I expect a lot of St L fans.  Should be a big crowd because of the Harry Potter tee shirt promo.
