Philly fans will be a pain that day. I hope they won't be off a World Series win.
They won’t be…

Does anyone know if there's a big event coming to Nats Park soon? I noticed yesterday that they're bringing in multiple tractor-trailer loads of those white panels they use to cover the playing surface during concerts. No Enchant this year, either.

Not happening in DC this year, as far as I can tell. Whatever it is, it's big. It looks like they're assembling a huge stage. Since they started putting it up the day after the election, I thought it might have something to do with the inauguration, but it seems far too early to start on something that's more than two months away.

Are they planning on hosting any MLB games again?

I toured the ballpark before it opened in 2008, our tour guide mentioned a plan to turn the Red Porch/Red Loft into a brew pub that would be open year round. Then there was the announced four story sports book in the area across the street from the Salt Line that would have rooftop views of the field. This is something they've been trying to make happen for a long time.

Sounds like funding for this is contingent on them signing a lease to stay through at least the year 2050. Curious as to why they wouldn’t sign up for that immediately - unfortunately relocation is the first thing that pops into my head.

Nationals Park ranks 19th for food. Sounds about right.

I get the "no straws" at the park thing, but if you do that,  have lids you can sip from

If straws are that big of a deal to you, I highly recommend the product linked below. I go on cruises fairly often and they have these horrible sugar/candy based straws that ruin the taste of the drink. The one I have comes with a cleaner, can be sectioned out depending on the size of your drink, and it has a self cleaning case that can be clipped to your key chain that is no bigger than your average car key fob.

I wonder if that would make it through security?

Makes it through the TSA just fine at airports and cruise terminals.

Nats park tends to be odd.  My wife had an emergency whistle confiscated at security a few years ago

Well the contract security company definitely isn't hiring rocket scientists. Seriously though, the metal profile on this is so small that it would be less than a belt buckle or anything else you would have on but not have to remove. Non-permissive environments are my thing and the only thing I like better than rules is breaking them.

They can be very inconsistent and a lot of the greener guards are on a power trip until a supervisor calms them down. I have a very small titanium bottle opener on my keychain and I've had a few of them look at it funny. And while bags that aren't clear are prohibited, I've found that they are magically allowed in some instances if you put them into one of the approved clear bags

Was actually disappointed with the food at Camden Yards when I went last year.

Haute Dog, Swizzler, Roaming Rooster and Rocklands BBQ are all better than any of the options at Camden - the prices however are ridiculous.

The "maryland dog" at OPACY is terrifying.  At least our overpriced fare is not buried under an Old Bay haboob

At least none of our concession stands will be serving dog meat this season, as far as I know.
