A little behind, with this, but the latest American Experience - 'The Movement & The Madman' is something of a curiosity. The subject matter - Nixon's planned escalation of the Vietnam War, and the rise of the anti-war movement - is interesting. However, the program format is unusual - none of the contributors appear on screen, so what you get is an audio track with many still images (albeit with rostrum camera work) and short archive clips. The result is more akin to an illustrated lecture, rather than a TV program. It's almost a throw-back to the days of dial-up / ADSL when connections weren't fast enough to handle full real-time video, so online 'programs' were audio with stills. Probably keeps production costs down, but it's not really what we expect from AE. (I did wonder why it was described as a 'special presentation'...).
